23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 4:23-24 (King James Version)
How does one work for God?
Do you care to work for God, alone?
Do you care to serve Him?
In this challenging times, where the world faces potential ruin (all industries included), more than ever we are called to look into our hearts, and to re-assess ourselves, and the work we do.
The world has been turned upside down by changes in health, policies, work conditions, living conditions, economic conditions, and many people are without home, work, income, family, and life.
When life turns simple and basic, our hearts and minds will have to follow.
When life is threatened by a man-made virus, out to squelch it, we naturally see how mortal, and vulnerable, we all are.
Most turn back to God for help.
Some look to Jesus, to be shown the Way.
Others are still in their safe abodes, and ivory towers, oblivious, or uncaring, to the suffering going on.
A few others, are still busy hatching plots to curb and control the population, thus, the creation of a disease, and possibly a "vaccine".
When, oh when, will man finally work for God?
What will it take for us to see that work, without God in our hearts, is no work at all?
How much longer will it take, and what more will it take, to wake up to the fact that without God, we are nothing?
How can we even think of distancing ourselves from the Creator?
It only makes sense that we do not bite The Hand that Created Us.
On and on, since Genesis, God had to bear with His unfaithful, ungrateful, and discontented people.
If the heart isn't right, the work won't be right.
I do know for myself that I've had nearly 36 jobs in my lifetime, only because I was finding work that feeds my soul.
I cannot just work for money.
I have to know there is a decent purpose to the work I'm doing, and that my employer cares about the people who work for him, and the people we're supposed to serve.
It has been the longest struggle when I was young.
To find an employer who would do that.
I had no idea it was God I was searching for.
So, as my colleagues would have one job, and stick to it, I'd be searching all over the place.
And when I couldn't find such an employer, I finally started working for myself in 1992.
Not to mean that my own efforts were sterling.
But I kept on and on, correcting myself along the way, making adjustments wherever God would direct me, and became many things in between, creating jobs for myself, where there were none.
Well, now, I'm a writer and researcher, on all things Christ.
I'm a writer for God.
I write about God.
You can expect my shock, when a mailer I would use for work, "blocked" my mailing, all because the algorithms detected I was using the word "God".
They would do that to the CREATOR??
So, I reluctantly used the words, the "Most High One", only because the algorithms didn't detect the word "Christ" in my mailing.
And now, they probably will, and reel in shock, as I reeled in shock when they blocked the word "God".
I've done hundreds, maybe thousands of mailings for my writing and promotions, but blocking the word "God" spoke volumes about these marketers and their platform.
That was a stand, in itself.
In all likelihood, I may leave that platform, just like I've left many other jobs when the employer, or platform, were not God or people-friendly.
That's the work I do.
It's actually the work I've always done.
Before I became a born-again Christian, nearly seven months ago, my heart knew that work had to be of a certain quality.
I cannot work for just money.
I have to work for something magnificent, otherwise, my work would suffer.
What could be more magnificent, than God?
It's actually very strange that many of my colleagues (in Architecture, and other industries), sought the highest projects, clients, and employers, when I sought none of those.
Wealth, position, and prestige never intrigued me.
I was always inquiring what the project was.
Who was it for?
To what end?
For what purpose?
Who do we serve?
Are we truly serving them?
Who is paying the bill?
If I saw it was for self-aggrandizement, I immediately headed out of the door.
On the deepest level, we can all detect if work is for God, or not.
I only work for God.
I have always worked for God.
I don't hesitate dropping work, that doesn't honor God.
If I serve others well, through my work, then I'm honoring God.
If I use all the talents God gave me, to serve others well, then, I'm honoring God even more.
If self is forgotten, and only God is left, then that is the ultimate work.
How beautiful it is to work that way!
How beautiful each day becomes!
Like, I could still be in bed, sleeping, but something stirred in my heart, and I got up right away, as I wanted to write this particular piece.
It is to encourage all of you, to work for God, and God alone.
What good is money, when we're all gone?
What good is money, if you got it through devious means?
What good is money, if in the process of obtaining it, you deprived others of their share?
I may be poor financially, but my spirit soars.
God won't care if you're poor financially, but He'll mind if your spirit is poor.
And that's why I'm tasked to write this, for time is always of the essence, when it comes to reconciling with God.
Let's face it, we are all imperfect, but the path is towards perfection.
Jesus did say:
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
Matthew 5:48 (King James Version)
Does it serve God, or does it serve self?
Remember, when the time comes, all you can offer God is the quality of your heart, life, and work.
You cannot take your riches with you.
If anything, those will hold you back from the Gate.
Again, Jesus did say:
"And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."
Matthew 19:24 (King James Version)
There is still time to change, and to correct the work you do now, but it's got to be now.
Most of all, look into your heart, and assess your intentions for the work you do.
In essence, it's really only two things, and has always been, and will always be:
Do you work for God or mammon?
"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
Matthew 6:24 (King James Version)
As always, Jesus has the Last Word.
P.S. Since I started writing for Christ, and Christ alone, my work has greatly expanded. I found myself writing 22 books on spiritual warfare (fiction) in 36 days, two more books this year on Jesus, and numerous blogs, apart from the marketing I do, and we're not done yet. If anything, Jesus and I are just warming up. That's the work I do.
What is the work you do? Come back to Jesus, remain in His Fold, be part of His sheep. We are all safest there.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
John 10:27-30 (King James Version)
God created my work for me.
He saw where I was at, and what I was up to.
He knew my heart.
And maybe, He saw how long and how much I labored to get things right in my work, and now, He allowed me to write this way, for Him, and of Him.
My work blossoms, more and more, each day.
Have no fear of how the world is changing, have only fear that you haven't changed for the service of the LORD.
And, as the world seemingly whirls in chaos, and confusion, this is your GOLDEN opportunity, to finally, and fully, align yourself with CHRIST.
Christ has always been the Way.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
John 14:6 (King James Version)
Why do we fight that fact so much?
We must surrender to God.
Only He knows what's best for us.
How can the Creator not know?
My work is to tell you that TRUTH.
