The prophet Jeremiah
My well-meaning Bible teacher friend has this to say about being careful with people who claim to be prophets, and with due concern, too, for we "baby" lambs are easy "pick" for the deceiver.
Thus, I appreciate his chosen verses here and I will surely take it to heart:
“This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord.”
Jeremiah 23:16 NIV
Below are more thoughts from my Bible teacher friend:
"And even if they speak or use the word of God, they twist or put a spin to it to suit their purposes."
Here’s from Jesus Himself:
“At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time.”
Matthew 24:23-25 NIV
At the end of Dr. David R. Reagan's videos, you will often hear him say, "Maranatha, Maranatha!"
My friend explains to me that this means:
"Jesus is coming again, or, come, Jesus come!"
Last of all, here's another verse he shared:
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV
All I know is I am fortunate in having my friend and Dr. Reagan as teachers in this new-found path of mine towards finally acknowledging Christ as my Savior and the Savior of the world.
Do you know how that feels?
Like nothing this world can ever give.
